Of all things, Olney is known for having an unusual number of reported ghost sightings. But we suspect some of these stories might just be a ploy to keep Olney’s rural, undiscovered character exactly that—rural and undiscovered. Located off old rural routes, and with a river called the “Lost Branch,” Olney has, with a little imagination, a mysterious character to it that some relish.

HISTORY

Olney was originally called Nineveh, and under the latter name was platted in 1855.

ACCESSIBILITY

Olney is located in western Lincoln County on Route O, about twelve miles northwest of Troy, MO. 

SCHOOLS

Olney is served by the Silex R- I school district, and is considered to have schools better than the state average.
